Microsoft is still in the game with Windows 8!

Computers running the Microsoft Windows 8 operating system can be found in retail stores no later than October of this year. Though a specific date was not released, Microsoft Corp. announced the time frame for the product’s mass-market release.
Since the beginning of the Microsoft operating system, typically a new product every 3 years or so is expected. However, Microsoft indicates that Windows 8 is a widely anticipated overhaul since their late Windows 95. The new Windows 8 will appear as mosaic tiles across the user’s screen. They’ve designed the new application to run on touch-based tables and smart phones as well as personal computers.

Competition looms at the other end of the spectrum with Apple’s hot selling and innovative iPad and touch products. Microsoft plans to revive its tablet strategy as they are also up against a variety of competition including Google and Amazon.com. As Microsoft upgrades their touch-based software, they’ve also announced the acquisition of Perceptive Pixel Inc. The deal gives access to technology used in large multi-touch displays for TV broadcasters, as well as government, defence, engineering and educational markets.
